Oxford Community Information

We are about 50 Bahá'ís in Oxford from all age ranges and a variety of different cultures. The Oxford Local Spiritual Assembly is the local governing body of the Oxford Bahá'í community and can be contacted for further information at:

We hold regular study circles in Oxford. These are small groups of people who get together with a tutor to study a special course that has been set up for anyone - Bahá'í or other - to learn more about spiritual values, the Bahá'í teachings and principles by which to try and live our lives. The first book in the course is called: “Reflections on the Life of the Spirit” and it takes about 40 hours to complete. It is suitable for anyone who is interested in spirituality, whether you follow an organised religion or on your own personal spiritual path. The subjects that the group investigates together are: meditations on the sacred scriptures, prayer, and life after death. The course is based on the writings of Bahá’u’lláh who founded the Bahá'í Faith. The times, dates and frequency of the meetings are usually decided by each individual group. If you would like more information about our study circles or would like to join the next study circle on ‘Reflections on the Life of the Spirit’ please contact:

Children’s classes are classes currently for children aged 4-7 which focus on moral and spiritual education. The classes consist of 15 lessons and each lesson teaches one virtue, such as truthfulness, generosity or obedience. The virtues are illustrated by stories and reinforced by short quotations, songs and colouring exercises. Co-operative games are used in each lesson which gives the children the opportunity to put the virtues into practice. The teachers have been trained to deliver these classes and full UK child protection guidelines are followed. If you would like more information or for your child to attend please contact:

Our devotional meetings currently take place both in public places and in some of our homes (as we have no permanent premises at present). At these meetings we read and meditate on passages mainly from the Bahá'í Sacred writings. These devotionals often have different themes such as joy, the environment and peace. If you would like to attend one of our devotional meetings please email us to find out the latest programme at:
